WCHA Fan of the Week, Presented by UNRL

From Alaska to Alabama and all points in-between, the WCHA and our member institutions have college hockey's best and most passionate fans. Following each week of league competition this season, we are proud and honored to recognize the WCHA Fan of the Week, Presented by UNRL!

Let's catch up with our first three honorees of 2018-19:

Week 3: Ryan Greenleaf, a Northern Michigan University alumnus who says that "Wildcat hockey is in my blood" and his girlfriend, Emmy Hank.

I love Wildcats hockey because:
Wildcat hockey is in my blood. The '91 Championship year was my freshman year at NMU and I've been hooked ever since. I've only missed one home game in the last four seasons (Ryan and Emmy sent us a photo from NMU's home game on Saturday, Nov. 10 vs. Cornell at the Berry Events Center).

My favorite hockey memory is:
The '91 Championship game vs. Boston University (the Wildcats' epic 8-7, triple-overtime victory).

What I'm most looking forward to about the rest of the 2018-19 season is:
Hoping for the 'Cats to get on a roll and get more wins at the Berry and getting to see more home playoff hockey!

Describe WCHA hockey in one word or phrase:

Week 2: Minnesota State University alumnus Scott Erickson (Class of '97, who says, "#HornsUp") and his son Leland, repeat winners cheering on the Mavericks from Florida (including in the photo, watching on TV as Minnesota State defeated Minnesota on Friday, Nov. 2)!

I love Mavericks hockey because:
NCAA hockey is our favorite, and the Mavs are built for it!

Our favorite hockey memory is:
Scott: "Do You Believe in Miracles?"
Leland: "10U hockey travel with my buddies."

What I'm most looking forward to about the rest of the 2018-19 season is:
Watching and listening to more action with my son, especially when we're traveling his schedule.

Describe WCHA hockey in one word or phrase:

Week 1: Beth Altenkirch, the First Lady of the University of Alabama in Huntsville (and the #1 fan of UAH Hockey!), along with her friend, Janet Reville (the photo came from UAH's home game on Saturday, Oct. 27 against Lake Superior State).

We love Chargers hockey because:
The team plays with great energy and they are having fun.

Our favorite hockey memory is:
Former UAH defender Richard Buri (2014-18) scored on a face-off and gave an expression of "no big deal."

What we're most looking forward to about the rest of the 2018-19 season is:
Many more exciting plays.

An expression of thanks:
Janet Reville has been a season ticket holder since moving to Huntsville 10 years ago. She, like all UAH fans, is incredibly grateful to the Altenkirchs (Beth and her husband Dr. Robert Altenkirch, the retiring UAH president) for their enthusiastic support of hockey and credit them with getting UAH into the WCHA. As an Ohio native, Janet enjoys seeing the other WCHA teams warming up outside the arena before games - they all seem to love the Alabama weather! Beth and her husband, Bob, support UAH Hockey and other UAH sports in order to allow quality students to get an outstanding education while still playing the games they love.
