Red Baron® WCHA
Offensive Player of the Week

Mark Zengerle - Sophomore, Forward
University of Wisconsin

photoUniversity of Wisconsin centerman Mark Zengerle, who factored in on all five of his team's goals in a two-game conference road split at first place Minnesota last weekend, has been named the Red Baron® WCHA Offensive Player of the Week for March 6.

A 5-11, 180-pound sophomore from Rochester, N.Y., Zengerle produced four points – including an assist on teammate Ryan Little's second period game-winner – last Friday (March 2) to lead the visiting Badgers to a 4-1 victory over the Golden Gophers at Mariucci Arena. Named the game's first star, Zengerle set up Wisconsin's first three goals of the contest and then scored one of his own at 15:43 of period two. His goal was a highlight-reel end-to-end power-play goal that involved a move through a UM defenseman. He finished +2. Then on Saturday (March 3), Zengerle had an assist on UW's goal that put them up 1-0 in the second period – a lead they held until a shorthanded goal at 4:47 of the third period knotted the score in an eventual 2-1 setback.

Zengerle, in the midst of a five-game scoring streak, shares the national lead with 37 assists and a 1.09 assists-per-game average, while ranking fourth in the nation with 49 points and a 1.44 points-per-game average.
