UAH's Marooney and Gosselin, and NMU's Tolvanen Named WCHA Men's Players of the Week
Players honored for games of Oct. 30 - Nov. 1, 2015

EDINA, Minn. – Nov. 2, 2015 – For their efforts in leading their respective teams to undefeated weekends in league play, the men's Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) Players of the Week for Oct. 26 – Nov. 1, 2015 are: Alabama Huntsville sophomore forward Cody Marooney (Offensive Player of the Week), Northern Michigan freshman goaltender Atte Tolvanen (Defensive Player of the Week) and Alabama Huntsville freshman defenseman Kurt Gosselin (Rookie of the Week).

Alabama Huntsville (Eden Prairie, Minnesota)

player The only player in the nation to tally two game-winning goals this past weekend, Marooney led Alabama Huntsville to a sweep at Lake Superior State – the Chargers' first-ever road brooming in WCHA play. The junior from Eden Prairie, Minn. had a multi-point effort Friday, assisting on the Chargers' first goal during a two-score, third-period comeback; then, he potted the game-winner at the 1:07 mark of overtime for a 5-4 triumph. Saturday, he scored 18:42 into the first period to give UAH a 1-0 lead en route to a 5-0 victory. Marooney finished his three-point weekend with four shots and a +3 rating.

WCHA Defensive Player of the Week
Atte Tolvanen, Fr., G
Northern Michigan (Vihti, Finland)

player Tolvanen continued the excellent start to his collegiate career, leading the country in saves by turning aside 80 of 81 shots as Northern Michigan posted a tie and win against visiting Bemidji State. The freshman from Vihti, Finland made a career-high 46 saves Friday in a scoreless tie, his first career shutout. Saturday, he made 34 stops, including 14 in the third period, to lift the Wildcats to a 3-1 win. Tolvanen's .988 save percentage and 0.48 GAA were both tops in the nation among goaltenders who started both games (fourth overall, behind a trio of goalies who started just one contest).

WCHA Rookie of the Week
Kurt Gosselin, Fr., D
Alabama Huntsville (Brighton, Michigan)

player In his first two collegiate games, Gosselin tied for the WCHA lead with a four-point weekend (2g, 2a) to lead Alabama Huntsville to a weekend sweep at Lake Superior State. The rookie from Brighton, Mich. was one of four freshmen nationally to have a four-point week (one of three who did so in two games), scoring twice Friday and tallying two helpers Saturday. He brought the Blue and White back from a 4-2 deficit in his debut Friday, registering both Chargers goals in the third period (at the 4:00 and 8:46 mark, respectively) to tie the contest and set UAH up for a 5-4, overtime victory. Saturday, Gosselin chipped in a pair of assists while helping UAH to its first shutout since March 12, 2010.
