This week, we are proud to honor Scott Erickson and his son, Leland, as our WCHA Fans of the Week! More about Scott and Leland…

Favorite Team:

Scott: Minnesota State; Leland: North Dakota (as Scott says, "we have a divided house as my wife, Lori, is from the Grand Forks area")

Are you a Minnesota State alumnus, or otherwise connected to the school?

Class of '97, hockey theory class taught by Coach Brose in '98.

We love Mavericks hockey because:

I was lucky enough to see the Mavericks jump to Division I first-hand. Met some great guys, learned what it looks like to dream big and fight for what you believe in. Leland loves Stomper Maverick and the colors! Purple is one of his favorites, mine is black, so it's a win, win!

Our favorite hockey memory is:

Mine is the Miracle on Ice without a doubt! Leland (wears number 80) and his 10U team just beat the tournament champions up in Huntsville a couple weekends ago. They overcame a 2-0 deficit in the last 3 minutes. Leland split time in net, wearing his Maverick socks, and they all had their first Miracle on Ice!

What we're most looking forward to about the rest of the 2017-18 season is:

With a little luck, we'll be able to venture up to Huntsville to see the Mavs! We were struck by another vehicle on the way to practice a couple weeks ago, so we hope to be able to make the trip. Ultimate dream this year is to sneak off to Spring Break a day early to Sioux Falls. That's all I'll say about that right now.

Describe WCHA hockey in one word or phrase:
