MANKATO, Minn. - For the second straight night Minnesota State and St. Lawrence battled to an even draw in men's college hockey nonconference action.

The two-game series played at Verizon Wireless Center in downtown Mankato.

The Mavericks, who fought back in earning a 5-5 tie Friday, struck first Saturday only to see St. Lawrence tie the game late with the game eventually ending in a 1-1 tie.

MSU junior forward Justin Jokinen tallied his second goal in as many nights when he tallied a rebound marker at 15:50 of the second period.

Then late in the third period, with netminder Matt Weninger on the bench for an extra attacker, St. Lawrence defenseman Pete Child took a shot from the top of the circle to beat Austin Lee at 19:08 and to send the game into over time. Neither team was able to score in the extra session, although MSU did get four shots on goal after a St. Lawrence player was sent to the penalty box at the 2:14 mark.

MSU owned a 38-24 advantage in shots on goal and went zero-for-eight in man-advantage situations. St. Lawrence was zero-for-three in power play opportunities.

Next action for the Mavericks is next weekend when they open Western Collegiate Hockey Association action at Michigan Tech.
