HOUGHTON, Mich. - Jason Gregoire scored a hat trick to lead No. 1 North Dakota to an 11-2 victory over the Michigan Tech hockey team in WCHA action Saturday (March 5).
North Dakota wasted no time getting on the scoreboard as Brad Malone and Jason Gregoire each scored in the game's opening minute.
Patrick McCadden put the Huskies on the scoreboard with a goal at 1:23. McCadden buried a loose puck in front of the goal for his fourth goal of the season. Tyler Gubb and Aaron Pietila each notched their second assists of the season on the goal.
UND scored the game's next five goals before Carl Nielsen found the net for the Huskies at 7:58 of the second period. Nielsen scored his first goal of the season unassisted with a blast from the blue line.
North Dakota would score four more goals in the victory.
Brad Eidsness finished with 18 saves for North Dakota, and Michigan Tech had three goalies combine for 25 saves.
The two teams will face off again next week in the first round of the WCHA Playoffs March 11-13.
