ST. CLOUD, Minn. - A goal by Alaska Anchorage's Eric Scheid at 2:18 of overtime spelled a 3-2 loss for the St. Cloud State University men's hockey team on Friday, Feb. 17 at the National Hockey Center in St. Cloud, Minn.

The celebration for UAA was delayed due to a review of the goal by the officials, but the call stood as teammates Scott Allen and Jordan Kwas earned assists on the tally by Scheid.

The loss moves SCSU's record to 12-15-4, 9-11-3 WCHA, while UAA improves to 8-19-2, 5-19-1 WCHA on the season. The two squads will complete the weekend series at the NHC with a 7:07 p.m. game on Saturday, Feb. 18.

SCSU opened the night's scoring at 14:31 of the first period with a goal by freshman forward Jarrod Rabey (Rockton, Ill.). Rabey capitalized on a rebound from a shot by freshman defender Andrew Prochno (Minnetonka). The second assist on the play was credited to senior forwar Jared Festler (Little Falls).

This was Rabey's fifth goal of the season, while it marked Prochno's team-leading 19th assist of the season.

UAA tied the game at 7:08 of the second period with a goal by Scheid, who poked home a loose puck in front of the SCSU net. Allen added the lone assist on the play for UAA. The Seawolves broke the tie in the third period with a goal at 8:13 by Daniel Naslund. Jade Portwood and Corbin Karl provided assists on the goal.

The Huskies forced the OT session at 13:55 of the third period when junior forward Ben Hanowski (Little Falls) scored to make it 2-2. Rabey coined the first assist on the play and sophomore defender Nick Jensen (Rogers) marked his 18th assist of the season on the set-up.

Neither squad was able to convert in the closing minutes of the game, which set up the OT game winner by Scheid.

In the contest, UAA outshot the Huskies 32-26. On the power play, SCSU was 0-of-3 on the evening, while UAA was 0-of-1. SCSU was only whistled for one penalty in the game.

In the nets, Rob Gunderson picked up the win for UAA with 24 saves. Junior goalie Mike Lee (Roseau) netted 29 saves for the Huskies in the loss.
