HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville hockey team fell in conference action on Friday night as Bowling Green skated to a 7-0 win at the Propst Arena at the Von Braun Center. The Chargers fall to 1-20 (1-12 WCHA), while the Falcons improve to 10-9-4 (7-6-2 WCHA) with the victory.

The first period saw just one goal scored as BGSU's Ben Murphy lit the lamp at 11:34 as UAH goalie Matt Larose turned away the other 18 shots he faced in the period, but the Falcons would take a commanding lead in the middle frame.

After a Ralfs Freibergs power-play marker made it 2-0 at the 5:53 mark of the period, the Falcons then scored in rapid succession as Matt Ponhlkamp scored at 12:56 and Mark Cooper tallied just eight seconds later at 13:04 to provide a 4-0 advantage after two periods.

Bowling Green then would add three goals in the third period as Dan DeSalvo scored just 51 seconds into the frame, and Ben Murphy and Adam Berkle rounded out the scoring for the visitors.

Larose finished the game with 38 saves, while opposing netminder Tommy Burke stopped all 22 shots that UAH fired his way.

Both Brent Fletcher and Frank Misuraca led the Chargers with four shots on the night, while Ben Reinhardt recorded three blocked shots.

The two teams will return to the ice on Saturday night at 7:07 p.m. in the season series finale. The first 1,000 fans will also receive a free UAH hockey mini stick.
