ALABAMA HUNTSVILLE SHUT OUT BY WESTERN MICHIGAN, 1-0

Freshman goaltender Carmine Guerriero made 24 saves for the Chargers

Notre Dame, IN - The University of Alabama in Huntsville hockey team dropped their fifth one-goal game of the season on Saturday afternoon, falling 1-0 to Western Michigan in the third-place game of the 2013 Shillelagh Tournament at Compton Family Ice Arena.

The Chargers (0-14-0) were shutout for the sixth time this year, as the Broncos (6-5-3) scored the game's lone goal at 1:59 of the first period on their only power play opportunity of the game. UAH was tagged with an interference call early in the game and WMU converted on their only chance.

The two teams played fairly even throughout the majority of the contest as UAH would not allow another goal with Carmine Guerriero finishing with 28 saves in the game.

UAH would have five power play opportunities in the game but could not convert. Western Michigan outshot the Chargers 29-24.

Kyle Novak scored the only goal of the game. Shane Berschbach and Sam Mellor were credited with the assists.

The Blue and White will get back to WCHA play this next weekend, when they visit Bowling Green on Friday and Saturdy with 7:07 p.m. central time puck drops.
