SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - Lake Superior State suffered a 3-1 loss to Ferris State Saturday, Ferris State is the first team to sweep the Lakers this season.

The Lakers are 9-6-1 overall and 5-5-0 in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association. The Lakers sit tied for sixth in the WCHA with 10 points as of release time. Ferris leads the league with 22 points and is 13-2-2 ovearll and 10-0-2 in the WCHA.

The Bulldogs took a 2-0 lead at the end of the first period. Freshman forward Alex Globke (8-9--17) tallied the lone Laker goal at 14:06 of the second, leaving LSSU down 2-1. Senior forwards Dan Radke (3-11--14) and Colin Campbell (6-7--13) notched the assists on Globke's goal.

LSSU pulled their goalie with one-eleven left in the third but were unable to find the back of the net. FSU scored an empty-net goal at 18:58.

Senior goaltender Kevin Kapalka (5-4-1) made 19 saves for LSSU while CJ Motte (13-0-2) totaled 36 saves for Ferris. The Lakers were 0-for-6 on the power-play while FSU went 1-for-4.

The Lakers play their last series of 2013 Dec. 13-14 at Alaska Anchorage.
