SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - Lake Superior State recorded its second straight 3-1 win Saturday to sweep Robert Morris at the Taffy Abel Arena. The Lakers are 2-0-0 overall heading into their next non-conference matchup against Union on Oct. 18-19. They recorded their first sweep since Feb. 15-16, 2013, against Alaska.

At the end of the first period the Lakers trailed the Colonials, 1-0. Halfway through the second, freshman forward Matt Johnson (1-0--1) tallied his first collegiate goal on an assist by freshman forward Garrett Clemment (0-2--2).

Junior forward Andrew Dommett (1-1--2) notched the game-winning goal for LSSU at 8:44 of the third period with the help of impressive passes from Clemment and Chris Ciotti (1-1--2). Junior defenseman Kevin Czuczman (1-0--1) gave the Lakers the two-goal lead at 16:19 of the third, drawing an assist from sophomore forward Daniel Vernace (0-1--1).

Netminder Kevin Murdock (2-0-0 overall) made 27 saves for the Lakers to cap off an impressive opening weekend. LSSU fought off the Colonials, who were 1-for-8 on the power play. Terry Shafer suffered the loss after replacing Dalton Izyk in the second period. Izyk and Shafer made 10 saves for the Colonials.

The Lakers went 0-for-3 on the power play.
