Mankato, Minn.   ---  Junior forward Teddy Blueger scored three times in lifting #13 Minnesota State to a 5-3 win over Bemidji State in a Western Collegiate Hockey Association contest played in Mankato Saturday.

The win, MSU's fifth in the last six games, closed out the sweep for the Mavericks, coming on the heels of MSU's 6-3 win Friday.

The host Mavericks opened up at 3-1 first period lead, getting things going at 11:22 after Dylan Margonari's offensive zone face-off win led to Brad McClure's fourth goal of the season. Junior forward Teddy Blueger ripped one from the point with the Mavericks on the power play at 15:27 and then the Riga, Latvia native duplicated the feat with another power play marker at 16:26 in making it a 3-0 Minnesota State lead. The Beavers cut the deficit to 3-1 when Phil Brewer scored on a rebound at 19:58.

Graeme McCormack's wrister from the right face-off dot at 18:18 made it 3-2, but Blueger completed his first career hat trick when he collected a rebound off of a shot from the point by Zach Palmquist and shoveled it past Andrew Walsh at 19:34. The Mavericks owned a 4-2 advantage after two periods of play.

Senior forward Matt Leitner tallied a shorthanded empty net goal for his second goal of the season at 17:53 of the final period and BSU forward Matt Arentz scored with 10.5 ticks on the clock to close out the scoring.

The Mavericks went one-for- six in power play chances on the night, while BSU was two-for-five with the man advantage.

The Mavericks owned a 33-23 advantage in shots on goal the game as junior netminder Stephon Williams, who finished with 20 saves, upped his record to 7-1-0 in 2014-15. Minnesota State, which stands 7-3-0 for the season and is 5-1-0 in WCHA games, takes to the road for its next games when it plays at Michigan Tech Nov. 21-22.
