Mankato, Minn. --- Bemidji State scored a first-period goal and that goal stood up as the only offense in the game as the Beavers claimed a 1-0 win over #16 Minnesota State in Western Collegiate Hockey Association action Saturday.

BSU forward Brendan Harms cashed in a on a rebound chance when he slid the puck under Cole Huggins' pad at 9:18 of the first period in giving the Beavers a 1-0 lead.

The teams battled through a scoreless second period and a scoreless third period as Harms' goal held up as the only offense in the game.

The Mavericks peppered the Bemidji State net with 38 shots, but could not solve sophomore netminder Michael Bitzer.

The Mavericks, who went three-for-six in power plays in the game, outshot BSU by a 38-23 margin in the game.

0Junior netminder Cole Huggins stands 10-9-2 on the season with tonight's loss and owns a 35-19-3 mark for his career.

Minnesota State, which has gone 7-3-2 in its last 12 games, stands 18-11-7 overall and finishes the 2015-16 regular season with a 16-5-7 WCHA mark.

The Mavericks host a best-of-three first round WCHA post-season series next weekend vs. an opponent yet to be named.
