ANCHORAGE - The University of Alaska Fairbanks had five different players score in a 6-2 win over the University of Alaska Anchorage in the first game of the Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup Friday.

Steven Jandric, Jack Weiss and Justin Woods each scored to give the Nanooks a 3-0 first period lead.

Jordan Xavier scored his second career goal on the rebound with 37 seconds remaining in the period to cut the UAF lead to 3-1. Alex Jackstad assisted on the goal.

After a scoreless second period, Ryker Leer netted his second goal of the season at 9:20 of the third.

Jarret Brown ripped a shot from the blueline on the power play to tally his first goal of the season at 11:16. Jonah Renouf and Tomi Hiekkavirta assisted on the UAA goal.

Justin Woods and Colton Leiter completed the scoring for UAF.

Both teams finished with 24 shots.

UAA was 1-for-7 on the man advantage, and UAF was 1-for-5.

Olivier Mantha finished with 18 saves for UAA.

The two teams will continue the series Saturday in Fairbanks.
