ANCHORAGE, ALASKA - Alex Jackstadt and Trey deGraaf each scored to lead the University of Alaska Anchorage to a 2-1 win over Alabama Huntsville Saturday.

"I was proud of our guy's effort," said head coach Matt Thomas. "It was a gritty win. We had to kill penalties tonight which makes the win even better."

The Seawolves killed all five Charger powerplay opportunities, including a pair of five-minute majors. UAA was also scoreless (0-4) on the man-advantage.

Connor Merkley scored from the slot in the first minute of the game to give the Chargers an early lead.

Alex Jackstadt tied the game with his first goal of the season. Jackstadt buried a loose puck on the doorstep at 12:43 of the first period.

Trey deGraaf tallied his second career goal for the game-winner at 8:41 of the third period.

Olivier Mantha finished with 28 saves for UAA.

Both teams with 29 shots.

Alaska Anchorage (2-16-4, 2-11-3) will play at Bowling Green Jan. 19-20.
