Anchorage, Alaska --- Seventh-rated Minnesota State scored three power play goals and a shorthanded goal in cruising to a 4-1 win at Alaska Anchorage in a Western Collegiate Hockey Association game Saturday.

For the 15th time this season Minnesota State scored the game's first goal when center Jake Jaremko, one of the nation's top-scoring freshmen, batted in a loose puck for a power play marker at the 13:55 mark of the opening period. The goal is Jaremko's seventh of the year. The Seawolves, who have five one-goal losses this season, responded at 16:46 after Jordan Xavier crashed the net for a rebound and put the puck into the net for his fourth goal of the year.

Junior defenseman Daniel Brickley, dropping down below the dot on the right side of the ice, one-timed a pass from Marc Michaelis to beat Olivier Mantha on the shortside at 10:55 for a power play goal to give the Mavericks a 2-1 lead. Speaking of Michaelis, he got his ninth goal of the season at 18:10 after collecting the puck off of the stick from Parker Tuomie and Minnesota State took a 3-1 lead into the locker room at the end of two periods of play.

The Mavericks outshot the Seawolves 20-2 in the third period and when senior center C.J. Suess muscled his way for a shorthanded breakaway goal at 8:25, Minnesota State built its lead to 4-1. For Suess, the Minnesota State captain, the goal is the third shorthanded goal of his four-year college career.

Tuomie, who had two assists in the game, extended his point-scoring streak to eight games during which he's tallied 5-10--15. Brickley finished with a goal and an assist and has extended his point-scoring streak to four games. Michaelis had a goal and an assist and now owns a three-game point-scoring streak (2-6--8). Suess, who has scored nine times in the last six games, is now riding an eight-game point-scoring streak (9-4-13).

Minnesota State was three-for-five in the game in power play chances and the Mavericks held the Seawolves scoreless in four opportunities with the man advantage. The Mavericks owned a 46-11 advantage in shots on goal in the contest and LaCouvee stands 10-3-0 on the season with tonight's decision.

Minnesota State, which now stands 16-6-0 overall and is 14-4-0 WCHA with tonight's win, has gone 7-1 in its last eight games.

The Mavericks continue league road action with a two-game series at the University of Alaska next Friday and Saturday.
