EAGLE RIVER, ALASKA - Austin Azurdia recorded a hat-trick and added one assist to lead the Alaska Anchorage hockey team to a 6-1 win over Simon Fraser in an exhibition game in front of a packed house at the McDonald Center in Eagle River Saturday (Sept. 29).

"I was happy to see our top line get some scoring tonight," said head coach Matt Thomas. "Olivier Mantha had a good night in net."

The Seawolves wasted no time getting on the scoreboard as Aaron McPheters banged home a rebound on a shot by Nicolas Erb-Ekhom 50 seconds into the contest.

Azurdia extended the UAA lead to 2-0 after he ripped a shot from the slot at 3:31 of the first.

The Seawolves enjoyed two more goals in the first period, from Alex Jackstadt (17:31) and Austin Azurdia (18:22), to lead 4-0 at the first intermission.

Simon Frasier's lone goal by Eric Callegari was the only scoring in the period. Tyler Basham sent a pass across the face of the goal to Callegari who tipped it in.

UAA's fifth goal of the night came on a two-on-one opportunity when Matt Anholt found Tad Kozun in the slot for the one-timer. Azurdia also assisted on the goal.

Azurdia completed the hat trick with a short-handed goal with just over two minutes remaining in the contest.

Olivier Mantha made 19 saves for the Seawolves. Lyndon Stanwood made eight saves, and Ryan Sandrin finished with 12 for SFU.

UAA finished with a 26-20 edge in shots. Alaska Anchorage was 0-4 on the power play, and Simon Frasier finished 0-5.

Alaska Anchorage will host North Dakota in the season-opener for both schools Oct. 6.
