MANKATO, Minn. - Seventh-rated Minnesota State got a pair of goals from senior forward C.J. Suess and 16 saves from senior netminder Connor LaCouvee in skating past Alabama Huntsville by a 3-0 margin Saturday in Mankato, Minn.

Minnesota State got a goal in all three periods in the game and combined with Friday's 5-1 victory over the visiting Chargers and two wins at Lake Superior State last weekend., have earned its second consective sweep of a conference opponent.

With Alabama Huntsville shorthanded due to a Richard Buri interference minor, freshman forward Reggie Lutz, stationed in the right circle, one-timed a pass from Parker Tuomie into an open net for a power play marker. The goal, which came at the 12:45 mark of the opening period is the third goal of the year for Lutz.

Senior captain C.J. Suess took a feed from freshman Jake Jaremko and tallied on a shot from the left side of the net at 4:09 of the second with his seventh goal of the year giving the Mavericks a 2-0 lead. Suess got his second goal of the game when he redirected a pass from Tuomie past UAH netminder Mark Sinclair at 1:26 of the third period.

Senior netminder Connor LaCouvee stopped all 16 shots he faced in recording his second career shutout. Suess, who also had two goals in Friday's 5-1 victory over the Chargers, leads the Mavericks with 22 points on the year on eight goals and 14 assists.

Freshman center Jake Jaremko, who assisted on one of Suess's goals in the win, has extended his point-scoring streak to nine games during which he's accrued four goals and 11 assists for 15 points. Sophomore forward Parker Tuomie­ chipped in with two assists.

The Mavericks, who are 13-5-0 overall and 11-3-0 WCHA and have won their last four games by a combined score of 20-2, outshot the Chargers by a 32-16 margin in the contest. Minnesota State was one-of-five in power play chances in the contest, while UAH checked with a zero-of-four performance in opportunities with the man advantage.

Next action for the Mavericks is Dec. 29 and 30 when Northern Michigan visits Verizon Center for a pair of WCHA contests.
