GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. Led by tournament most outstanding player and center Trevor Frischmon's two goals, including the eventual game-winner at 10:06 of the third period, the No. 3/4-ranked Colorado College Tigers overcame a 3-0 second period deficit to rally past No. 5-ranked Michigan, 4-3, in the championship game of the Midwest Regional Saturday (March 26) evening before 6,571 at Van Andel Arena and earn a trip to the 2005 NCAA Men's Frozen Four. It was CC's first NCAA tournament win over the Wolverines since 1957.

Coach Scott Owens' Tigers (31-8-3), who were co-regular season champions of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association, will be making the program's first appearance in the Frozen Four since 1997 and 10th overall since 1948. Also still in the hunt for Frozen Four berths from the WCHA as of Saturday afternoon were Denver, Minnesota and North Dakota.

Colorado College fell into a 3-0 deficit following a goal by Michigan's Eric Nystrom at 1:32 of the second period but then the comeback started. At 6:13 of the second, WCHA Player of the Year Marty Sertich slapped in a rebound on a 5-on-3 power-play attempt, followed by a shorthanded tally by Frischmon at 15:27 that cut the gap to 3-2 heading into the third period.

At the 4:24 mark of the third, right winger Joey Crabb redirected a Frischmon shot in front of the Michigan goal to knot the score at 3-3.

Then, exactly 5:42 later, Frischmon notched his second goal of the game and biggest of his collegiate career when he wristed home the game-winner on a rebound of a John Brunkhorst shot. The four unanswered goals by Colorado College set a Midwest Regional record for greatest come-from-behind win.

Named to the NCAA Midwest Regional All-Tournament Team were forwards Trevor Frischmon of Colorado College, Jeff Tambellini of Michigan, and Marty Sertich of Colorado College, defensemen Brandon Rogers of Michigan and Brian Salcido of Colorado College, and goaltender Al Montoya of Michigan. Frishmon, again, was the regional's most outstanding player.

Saturday night at 8:00 pm ET, the North Dakota Fighting Sioux (23-14-5) skate against Boston College in the NCAA East Regional final at DCU Center in Worcester, Mass. On Sunday at 12 Noon ET, the No. 1-ranked Denver Pioneers (29-9-2) take on New Hampshire in the NCAA Northeast Regional final at Mullins Center in Amherst, Mass., while the Minnesota Golden Gophers (27-14-2) face off against Cornell 3-2 winners over Ohio State in the NCAA West Regional final at 2:30 pm CT at Mariucci Arena. Denver defeated Bemidji State, 4-3, on Saturday afternoon in the Northeast Regional semi-final while Minnesota blanked Maine, 1-0 in overtime, in a West Regional semi-final Saturday. The WCHA's fifth NCAA tournament qualifier Wisconsin (23-14-4) fell, 4-1, to Michigan on Friday night at the Midwest Regional.
