ANN ARBOR, Mich. ­ Senior defenseman Tom Preissing had a goal and two assists and forwards Noah Clarke and Brett Sterling each contributed a goal and an assist to power top-seeded Colorado College to a 4-2 victory over No. 4 seed Wayne State at the Midwest Regional at Yost Ice Arena Saturday afternoon. The win catapaults the Tigers into the regional championship on Sunday afternoon against the winner of the Michigan vs Maine game.

Colorado College, champions of the WCHA regular season, and the No. 2-ranked team in the latest national polls, hit on three-of-six power-play chances against WSU while blanking their opponent on all nine of their man-advantage opportunities to improve to 30-6-5 overall while Wayne State's season ends at 21-17-2.

Sterling opened the scoring with a power-play goal at 16:26 of the first period ­ the only goal in the opening 20:00.

Wayne State then knotted the game at 1-1 on a tally by Keith Stanich at 4:51 of the second before the Tigers camea back to score two straight goals by James Laux at 5:31 and Clarke, on a power-play, at 14:09, to made it 3-1 after two periods.

In the third, Wayne State again closed to within one goal at 3-2 when Billy Collins connected at 6:31, but Colorado College answered back less than 4:00 later when Preissing notched his 23rd of the season on a power-play at 10:02.

The Tigers, who had a 31-25 advantage in shots on goal, received 23 saves from goaltender Curtis McElhinney while WSU's David Guerrera had 27 saves.
