ST. PAUL, Minn. - North Dakota scored three power-play goals against Colorado College, who entered the game with the nation's top penalty-killing unit (.894), to pick up a 4-2 victory in the third place game of the 2008 Red BaronTM WCHA Final Five Saturday (March 22). UND finished the game 3-of-7 on the man-advantage compared to 1-of-4 for CC.

"Today was more about our performance than anything else," said North Dakota head coach Dave Hakstol. "We just wanted to come out and play 60 minutes, no matter the outcome."

"Our penalty-kill has been one of our strengths this season," said Colorado College head coach Scott Owens. "That was as good of a power-play as we have seen all year."

The Tigers opened the scoring with an even-strength goal at 7:58 of the first period. Sophomore Mike Testwuide sent a pass from his own defensive zone to junior Chad Rau who collected the pass just over the far blue line to score his 28th goal of the season on the break away.

North Dakota junior Taylor Chorney took a slapper that was stopped by freshman Richard Bachman but junior T.J. Oshie tapped in the loose puck. Sophomore Chris VandeVelde also picked up an assist on the power play goal at 19:20 of the first period.

The North Dakota trio also scored the next goal for the Fighting Sioux. Chorney once again took a slapper from the blue line that was redirected by VandeVelde. Oshie tallied his 23rd assist of the season on the power play goal at 5:01 of the second period.

Sophomore Chay Genoway scored the third power play for UND as he skated through the CC defense before sending a back hand pass by Bachman. He was assisted on the goal by a pair of freshmen - Jake Marto and Brad Malone.

Senior Jimmy Kilpatrick brought the Tigers back within one after he scored off a rebound on a shot by sophomore Brian Connelly. Freshman Ryan Lowery also picked up an assist on the power play goal at 16:36.

North Dakota scored its fourth goal of the evening at 10:02 of the final frame. Sophomore Darcy Zajac scored the Sioux's only even strength goal of the game thanks to assists by senior Kyle Radke and Marto.

CC pulled Bachman for the extra skater with 1:38 remaining but the Tigers could not find the net before UND skated away with the 4-2 win.

Jean-Phillipe Lamoureux (25-10-4) made 33 saves on 35 shots in the North Dakota win.

Bachman (25-8-1), the WCHA Player of the Year, made 31 saves and gave up all four goals in the loss.

The two teams finished the game even in shots with 35.
