MADISON, Wisc. The matchups for the 2005 NCAA Men¹s Frozen Four, set for April 7-9 in Columbus, Ohio, have been announced. An all Western Collegiate Hockey Association lineup of defending national champion University of Denver, Colorado College, University of Minnesota and University of North Dakota will compete for college hockey's top team prize at Schottenstein Center. The field guarantees the WCHA of a record 35th national championship since the league's founding in 1951-52, including it's fourth straight and fifth in the last six seasons.

On Thursday, April 7, the Denver Pioneers (30-9-2) will faceoff against the Colorado College Tigers (31-8-3) at 2:00 pm ET in the first national semi-final. Denver was the 2004-05 WCHA co-regular season and WCHA Final Five playoff champion while the Tigers were co-regular season champs.

In the Thursday evening national semi-final at 7:00 pm ET, the Minnesota Golden Gophers (28-14-1) will take on the North Dakota Fighting Sioux (24-14-5). The two semi-final games will be telecast live by ESPN 2.

The 2005 NCAA Frozen Four championship game will then be contested on Saturday, April 9 at 7:00 pm ET, with live television coverage on ESPN.

This marks the first time in the championship's 58-year history that four teams from one conference have made up the tournament field. WCHA-member teams Denver (2-0 vs Bemidji State and New Hampshire), Colorado College (2-0 vs Colgate and Michigan), Minnesota (2-0 vs Maine and Cornell) and North Dakota (2-0 vs Boston University and Boston College) went 8-1 during NCAA Regional competition this past weekend. The only loss was a 4-1 defeat by Michigan over Wisconsin on March 25.
