Already looking ahead and moving forward, Colorado College today announced another exciting hockey schedule for next season.
Highlights on the 2007-08 slate include 20 regular-season home games at the World Arena including two early exhibitions, four non-conference outings and two dates apiece against Western Collegiate Hockey Association rivals Denver, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
Fans interested in season tickets should call 719-389-6111 or log on to CCTigers.com. Prices start at $263, with any first-round WCHA playoff games at home included in the deal.
Tiger Hockey, the top winter collegiate sporting attraction in the state of Colorado, annually ranks among the top five nationwide in total attendance. The average attendance at CChome games during the 2006-07 season officially was 6,865 as the team reclaimed possession of the Gold Pan, hosted a first-round WCHAplayoff series and finished with a winning record (18-17-4)for the 14th time in the last 15 years. Sellouts are common. Only Wisconsin, Minnesota and North Dakota, which play in much larger facilities, drew more spectators.
Colorado College will host the NCAAWest Regional at the World Arena for the second time next March, with the winner advancing to the Frozen Four at the Pepsi Center in Denver.
Returning as flagship station for the CC Tiger Radio Network will be 103.9 FM The Eagle, with live broadcasts of all games, home and away.
In addition to 14 league games, the '07-08 home slate features two against Clarkson University (ECAC)and the traditional single contest with local rival Air Force Academy (Atlantic Hockey), both of which competed in this year's NCAAtournament. The Tigers also play host to Bemidji State University (College Hockey America), as well as the University of Calgary and the United States Under-18 Team in a pair of exhibitions.
Along with DU, Wisconsin and regular-season/playoff champion Minnesota, other WCHA teams visiting the World Arena for two games apiece next campaign include Alaska Anchorage, Minnesota Duluth, Minnesota State-Mankato and NCAA tournament participant St. Cloud State.
Featured on CC's road schedule are a two-game series at the University of New Hampshire in October, and a trip to Tampa, Fla., in late December for the Lightning College Hockey Classic, where the Tigers will meet RPI and either UMass or tournament host Notre Dame. New Hampshire, UMass and Notre Dame also participated in the recent NCAA playoffs.
