ANCHORAGE, AK - The 2009-10 University of Alaska Anchorage hockey schedule was announced today by Seawolf head coach Dave Shyiak.

UAA's 34-game schedule includes 17 home dates and two in-season tournaments. The Seawolves, who will play six non-conference games against five different opponents, alternate home and road series during the first half of the season from October through December. In January, UAA will have one back-to-back series at home, followed by a pair of series on the road in February.

The 31st season of Seawolf hockey commences with the Kendall Hockey Classic, Oct. 9-10. Joining five-time tournament champion UAA at the 19th edition of the Classic are Michigan, Mercyhurst and Alaska Fairbanks.

The Seawolves will look to defend their title when they play in the second annual Alaska Goal Rush tournament in Fairbanks on Oct. 16-17. They will face Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Robert Morris, respectively.

The 17th season of Western Collegiate Hockey Association for UAA begins Oct. 23-24 as it hosts North Dakota in the first of seven conference series to be played at Sullivan Arena. Also making visits to the 49th State in 2009-10 are Denver (Nov. 6-7), Minnesota State (Nov. 20-21), St. Cloud State (Dec. 4-5), Colorado College (Jan. 22-23), Minnesota (Jan. 29-30) and the 2009 WCHA Final Five Champions, Minnesota-Duluth (March 6-7).

UAA's conference road series are at Minnesota (Oct. 30-Nov.1), Wisconsin (Nov. 13-14), Colorado College (Nov. 27-28), Denver (Jan. 8-9), Michigan Tech (Jan. 15-16), St. Cloud State (Feb. 5-6) and Minnesota State (Feb. 19-20).

Not making the trip to Anchorage are Wisconsin and Michigan Tech, while UAA won't make outings to North Dakota and Minnesota-Duluth.

For the second straight season the Seawolves will face UAF just two times in their annual Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup series, as the Alaska schools will play a home-and-home series Feb. 26 (at UAA) and Feb. 27 (at UAF). The Seawolves, who have won the Governor's Cup the last three seasons, are unbeaten in their last 10 games (8-0-2) against the Nanooks.

UAA will play one exhibition game during the preseason, as it hosts the SAIT Polytechnic Trojans. The exhibition will be played at the Curtis Menard Ice Arena in Wasilla.

All Seawolf home games, with the exception of the Kendall Hockey Classic, will face off at 7:07 p.m.
