St. Cloud, MN St. Cloud State University sophomore forward Nate Raduns, a resident of Sauk Rapids and 2003 graduate of Sauk Rapids High School, has been named to the 2005 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V Men's University Division At-Large Second Team.
The Academic All-District V University Division At-Large team honors the top student-athletes from all NCAA Division I universities in the states of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois and Indiana. The Men's At-Large program for the Academic All-America program includes the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, tennis, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.
Raduns, a economics major at SCSU, was named the Brendan J. and Vernie McDonald President's Award (outstanding student-athlete) at SCSU in 2004-05. An All-WCHA Academic Award winner in 2004-05, Raduns was one of 19 players on the SCSU roster this year carrying a 3.0 GPA or better. Raduns had four goals and eight assists for the Huskies this year. He also posted one power play goal and one shorthanded goal in 28 games played this winter.
The Academic All-America Teams program honors 816 male and female student-athletes annually who have succeeded at the highest level on the playing field and in the classroom. Individuals are selected through voting by CoSIDA, the College Sports Information Directors of America; a 2,000-member organization consisted of sports public relations professionals for colleges and universities in the United States and Canada.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.20 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at his current institution and be nominated by his sports information director. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 14,000 student-athletes in Division I, II, III and NAIA covering all NCAA championship sports.
Raduns is the son of Paul and Bonnie Raduns of Sauk Rapids, Minn.
