COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. Colorado College junior left wing Brett Sterling has received more recognition, this time at the national level, for his achievements in the classroom and on the ice during the 2004-05 hockey season.

Sterling, who led the nation with 34 goals and finished second to linemate Marty Sertich in overall scoring with 63 points, today was named an Academic All-American by ESPN The Magazine and the College Sports Information Directors of America. He earned second-team recognition in the University Division for men's at-large sports after being voted to the All-District VII squad two weeks ago.

One of four Tigers selected to the West All-America First Team in early April, and a top-three finalist for the Hobey Baker Memorial Award, Sterling also is a two-time member of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association's All-Academic Team.

He won CC's annual Paul Markovich Award last season as the team's top student-athlete. He is majoring in economics.
