MADISON, Wisc. - St. Cloud State pushed its season-opening victory streak to three Friday(Oct. 19) night with a 7-2 win over Michigan Tech at the National Hockey Center as Lee Brooks and Mike Doyle both contributed two goals. The (SCSU) Huskies, who last week captured the Icebreaker tournament title at Maine, broke open a close game with four third period tallies in the first WCHA game of the 2001-02 campaign for both clubs. This also marks the first time in SCSU's Div. I hockey history that the Huskies have started a season with three victories.

In the only other league game Friday, visiting Minnesota State-Mankato slipped past Minnesota-Duluth, 6-5, handing the Bulldogs their first loss after their victory in the Maverick Stampede in Omaha last weekend. That, too, was the first league game for both clubs. In non-conference action Oct. 19, host North Dakota won its third straight game with a 3- 2 comeback victory over Maine, Minnesota defeated Bemidji State, 7-2, Colorado College blanked visiting UMass-Amherst, 3-0, host Wisconsin lost its season-opener to Wayne State, 5-4, and Alaska Anchorage lost at Alaska Fairbanks, 5-2.

Through the first three weeks of the season, WCHA-member teams owned a combined 13- 3-1 record against non-conference teams heading into games of Saturday, Oct. 20.
