Farmington Hills, Mich.--The Hockey Commissioners' Association (HCA) and NHL HOME ICE (XM 204, Sirius 208) today announced that College Hockey All-Access will debut this Saturday, October 24 at 11 a.m. (Eastern time) with a re-broadcast of the program on Sunday at noon.
"We are thrilled to be connecting our listeners to college hockey right across North America," said Joe Thistel, Director of Programming at NHL HOME ICE. "We are looking forward to providing a showcase to all the great schools, players, coaches and stories all across the U.S. college ranks."
The show, to air for 26 consecutive weeks through the 2010 Frozen Four in Detroit, will be co-hosted by Matt Shepard and Fred Pletsch with additional feature material provided each week by reporters covering college hockey's six Division I conferences. USA Hockey's National Team Development Program, based in Ann Arbor, Mich., will also receive regular attention on the show.
Shepard is a veteran Detroit-area broadcaster with extensive sports radio and play-by-play experience in hockey, football and basketball. Pletsch, the Associate Commissioner of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association, also serves as a hockey commentator for Fox Sports Detroit and Comcast Television. The in-studio hosts will be supplemented by rinkside reports from Brian Posick, the voice of Wisconsin hockey covering the WCHA, Bernie Corbett, long-time play-by-play announcer for Boston University focusing on Hockey East and Atlantic Hockey, and Jason Weinstein, Cornell University's radio voice, concentrating on the ECAC.
"We are very excited to be able to bring this one-of-a-kind show to college hockey fans on NHL HOME ICE," stated CCHA Commissioner Tom Anastos. "The show's format, features and reporting will give fans across North America the opportunity to get some all-access insight into some of the best stories in college hockey."
