Red Baron® WCHA Offensive Player of the Week
Tony Lucia, Sr., F, Minnesota
University of Minnesota left winger Tony Lucia, who produced five scoring points and two shorthanded goals while helping his team to a two-game conference sweep over visiting Alaska Anchorage last weekend, is the Red Baron® WCHA Offensive Player of the Week for Nov. 3-9, 2009. He was named the first star of the game in the series opener and the second star of the game in the series finale.
A 6-0, 195-pound senior from Plymouth, Minn., and a draftee of the NHL’s San Jose Sharks, Lucia recorded five points in the Gophers’ sweep of UAA with three goals and two assists. Then on Sunday (Nov. 1), Lucia posted another goal and an assist in the Gophers’ 4-1 victory over the Seawolves.
In addition to his two SHGs and five points, Lucia also had a team-high nine shots on goal and earned a +4 plus/minus rating. Tony is the son of UM head coach Don Lucia.

A 6-2, 190-pound junior from Mimico, Ontario and a draftee of the NHL’s Detroit Red Wings, Smith collected four assists, earned a +3 plus-minus rating and blocked four shots as the Badgers downed UNH 4-1 last Friday (Oct. 30) and 6-1 last Saturday (Oct. 31).
