WCHA Offensive Player of the Week
St. Cloud State University forward Nate DiCasmirro, who pro duced a threegoal hat trick and eight scoring points in a two game conference sweep over visiting North Dakota last weekend, has been selected as the WCHA Offensive Player of the Week for Nov. 5-11.
A 5-11, 205 pound alternate captain from Burnsville, Minn., DiCasmirro is the topscoring player in league games so far this season with eight goals, seven assists and 15 points in six outings and also leads all WCHA skaters in scoring overall with 9- 9=18 in eight games to date.
In a 84 victory over the Fight ing Sioux last Friday (Nov. 2) evening at the National Hockey Center, DiCasmirro assisted on four of the Huskies' goals - in cluding teammate Matt Hendricks' gamewinner at 1:21 of the third period.
DiCasmirro then came back on Saturday (Nov. 3) night to record his second hat trick of the season and draw an assist on the eventual gamewinner by Derek Eastman as SCSU posted a 61 win and a sweep of the series.
St. Cloud State, 800 overall (600 WCHA) and ranked No. 2 in the nation last week, hosts Colorado College on Nov. 910.

WCHA Defensive Player of the Week
University of Denver defenseman Jesse Cook, who played a key role at both ends of the ice for the Pioneers in back-to-back victories over league-rival Colorado College last weekend, has been honored as the WCHA Defensive Player of the Week for Nov. 5-11.
From Englewood, Colo., the 6- 5, 225-pound senior led DU's strong defensive effort against the Tigers in a pair of 32 home-and-home victories that pushed the No. 3-ranked Pioneers' season opening winning streak to six and kept them undefeated at 600.
On the weekend, Cook paced Denver with a +3 plus/minus on ice rating, was credited with 14 hits, and helped hold the Tigers to just one evenstrength goal in the series as three of their four tallies overall came on the powerplay.
In addition to his stellar defensive contributions, Cook also recorded a pair of assists in Denver's come-from-behind 32 victory over CC last Saturday (Nov. 3) - in cluding one on the gametying goal - that evened the scor at 2-2.
Through DU's first six games so far, Cook ranks among the top scoring blueliners in the league with six assists.
Denver next hits the road later this week for a Nov. 9-10 series at Michigan Tech.

WCHA Rookie of the Week
First-year Michigan Tech Uni versity forward Bryan Perez, who marked his first collegiate three goal hat trick in a 55 overtime tie against No. 1-ranked Minnesota last Saturday (Nov. 3), has been named the WCHA Rookie of the Week for Nov. 5-11.
A 6-1, 195pound freshman from Blaine, Minn., Perez scored three times in the first two periods last Friday (Nov. 2) night at MTU's John MacInnes Student Ice Arena, handing the Huskies a 51 advantage over the nation's top-ranked team before the Golden Gophers came back to forge a 55 overtime tie.
On the 2001-02 season, Perez ranks among the top-scoring rookies (tied for 7th) in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association, showing four goals, two assists and six points in six games - an average of one point per outing.
One of the conference's most improved teams in 2001-02, Michigan Tech (231) held second period leads in both games against top-ranked Minnesota last weekend. The Huskies remain at home this week to prepare for their upcoming Nov. 9-10 league series against No. 3 ranked University of Denver in Houghton.
