Mankato, Minn. - Men's hockey coach Troy Jutting has announced that seven student-athletes have signed NCAA Letters of Intent to attend Minnesota State University.
Committing to MSU during the NCAA early signing period are defenseman Channing Boe (Bemijdi, Minn./Green Bay (USHL)), goaltender Austin Lee (Bloomington, Minn./Fargo-Moorhead (NAHL)), forward Andrew Sackrison (St. Louis Park, Minn./Tri City (USHL)), forward Mike Louwerse (Champlin Park, Minn./Blake (USHS)), forward Garry Nunn (Victoria, B.C./Victoria (BCHL)), forward Brett Peterson (Elk River, Minn./Indiana (USHL)) and defenseman Ben Youds (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Shattuck St. Mary's (prep)).
"We were looking to add some skill with this recruiting class and we think we've done that." said Jutting. "This is a group of kids that can skate and handle the puck. In Ben Youds and Channing Boe we've added some of the defensive pieces we were looking for and in Austin Lee we're adding a solid goaltender. This group really compliments the class we brought in last year in terms of quality and depth."
Channing Boe, D, 6-3, 190, Shoots left, DOB: 07/13/86, Bemidji, Minn., Green Bay (USHL) Two-year USHL veteran currently serves as team captain for Green Bay...Played for Sioux Falls in 2005-06 and the Stampede won the Anderson Cup (regular season title) and were Clark Cup runners-up...Tallied 2-3--5 in 46 regular season games and 1-1--2 in 13 playoff games...Three-year letter winner at Bemidji High School...Team captain senior year and selected for Mariucci All-Conference Team junior and senior years..Played in the Elite League senior year for the North Team....Selected to play on the National Elite Team that won the championship in 2004...Selected to play on the Great 8 Team representing Section 8 A - 8AA. Section 8 won the Great 8 Tournament.
Brett Peterson, F, 6-2, 200, Shoots left, DOB: 04/14/88, Elk River, Minn., Indiana (USHL) Is in first year with Indiana of United States Hockey League where he's put up 2-1--3 in 9 GP...2006 All-State Honorable Mention selection for Elk River (Minn.) High School...Named to the Great Eight Festival Team Minnesota...Selected to the Elite League All-Star Team in November of 2005...Member of Minnesota Selects 17, 16, and 15 teams...Three-time All-Northwest Suburban Conference selection...2005-2006 Elk River High School Hockey Team MVP and team captain...Minnesota State Tournament participant in 2005 and 2004...Finished career ranking seventh on Elk River's all-time leading scoring list...Tallied 23-19--42 as a senior...Had 18- 17--35 as a junior...16-11--27 as a sophomore.

Mike Louwerse, F, 5-8,160, Shoots right, DOB: 08/21/88, Champlin Park, Minn., Blake High School Member of the Select 16 national team..Three-year participant in Minnesota Elite League...Three-years of USA Hockey model camp...Three-time all conference pick...Named to the 2005-06 AP All-State Team as junior as Bears captured state consolation title...Blake team MVP as junior...Tallied 27-29--57 in 31 GP in 2005-06...Leading scorer sophomore and junior year and team captain as a junior and senior.
Garry Nunn, F, 5-9, 175, Shoots right, DOB: 11/10/89, Victoria, B.C., Victoria (BCHL) In second season with Victoria of British Columbia Hockey League...Victoria currently ranks third in Canadian national junior poll... Has racked up 12-15--27 in 21 games with the Grizzlies this year...Had 13-18--31 in 55 games as the youngest player in the BCHL (15) in 2005-06...Was Scholastic Award recipient for Victoria last year...
