MADISON, Wisc. - St. Cloud State (9-0-0), Minnesota (7-0-1) and Denver (7-0-0) - the top three ranked teams, respectively, in the latest (Nov. 5) USA Today/American Hockey Magazine Div. 1 College Hockey Poll - kept their season-opening unbeaten streaks alive following conference victories on Friday (Nov. 10) night. The Huskies upended visiting Colorado College, 6-1, the host Golden Gophers won 5-3 over Minnesota State-Mankato, and the Pioneers defeated Michigan Tech on the road, 9-2. In the one other conference series being contested this weekend, Wisconsin skated past host Minnesota-Duluth, 5-1. Alaska Anchorage and North Dakota are both idle.

Celebrating its 50th anniversary season, the Western Collegiate Hockey Association had five teams - St. Cloud State (1st), Minnesota (2nd), Denver (3rd), North Dakota (10th) and Colorado College (12th) - ranked among the top 15 teams in the country in this week's USA Today/American Hockey Magazine Men's College Hockey Poll. So far in 2001-02, WCHA-member teams are a combined 23- 6-1 (.783) against non-conference competition.
