MADISON, Wisc. -- Undefeated Western Collegiate Hockey Association teams Minnesota (8-0-1) and Denver (8-0-0), along with once-beaten St. Cloud State (9-1-0), continue their reign as the nation's No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 ranked teams, respectively, in this week's (Nov. 12-18) two Division I men's college hockey polls. Coach Don Lucia's Golden Gophers, following a 5-3 and 4-2 weekend sweep over Minnesota State-Mankato, moved back on top in both the USA Hockey/American Hockey Magazine and the USCHO.com polls issued Nov. 12. UM next hosts Minnesota-Duluth this Friday and Saturday. Right behind Minnesota at No. 2 are the Denver Pioneers, who won 9-2 and 3-1 at Michigan Tech and handed Coach George Gwozdecky his 300th career victory. And at No. 3 this week are the St. Cloud State Huskies, who defeated visiting Colorado College, 6-1, last Friday (Nov. 9) before suffering their first loss last Saturday (Nov. 10), 4-3, at the hands of the Tigers. Denver is idle this week while St. Cloud State travels to Alaska Anchorage.

Celebrating it's 50th anniversary season and home to 31 national championship teams since 1951, the WCHA again has five teams ranked among the nation's top 15. In addition to #1 Minnesota, #2 Denver and #3 St. Cloud State, defending WCHA champion North Dakota is 9th in the USCHO.com poll and 11th in the USA Today/AHM poll while CC is 13th in the USCHO.com rankings and 14th in the USA Today/AHM poll. The top vote getter also receiving votes is Wisconsin (5-3-1). The Badgers, who host Michigan Tech this weekend, won twice at Minnesota-Duluth, 5-1 and 4-1, on Nov. 9-10.
