MADISON, Wisc. - Tickets for the next edition of college hockey's premier confer- ence championship - the 2002 WCHA Final Five 2002 WCHA Final Five 2002 WCHA Final Five 2002 WCHA Final Five 2002 WCHA Final Five - go on sale to the public on Friday, November 23. The 2002 WCHA Final Five will be held March 14, 15 and 16 at the 18,064-seat Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn., home to the National Hockey League's Minnesota Wild.

"After our record-setting Final Five last March (2001), and a successful and continuing partnership with the Minnesota Wild and the Xcel Energy Center, we couldn't be more excited about having the championship back in St. Paul again for 2002 (and 2003)," said WCHA Commissioner Bruce M. McLeod. "We think the WCHA Final Five has become one of the premier events in collegiate athletics and based on the record turnout we had last year, we encourage fans to get on board early." (The 2001 WCHA Final Five at the Xcel Energy Center drew a record total of 67,611 fans.)

Dates and tentative game times for the 2002 WCHA Final Five are:

Thursday, March 14 at 7:05 pm CT
Friday, March 15 at 2:05 pm and 7:05 pm CT
Saturday, March 16 at 2:05 pm and 7:05 pm CT (championship game).

Home to a record 31 national championship teams since its founding in 1951, the Western Collegiate Hockey Association is celebrating it's 50th anniversary season in 2001-02 and will announce some special plans for the Final Five later this season. Three WCHA teams - Minnesota, Denver and St. Cloud State - are currently ranked No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, in the lastest men's Div. 1 polls. In 2000-01, the WCHA received a conference record five berths in the NCAA Tournament.
