WCHA Offensive Player of the Week
Mark Hartigan, F, St. Cloud State

St. Cloud State University senior forward Mark Hartigan, who led all conference players over the weekend with three goals and five scoring points as the third-ranked Huskies skated to a pair of road victories at Alaska Anchorage, has been selected as the WCHA Offensive Player of the Week for Nov. 19-25.

A 6-0, 197-pound alternate captain from Fort St. John, British Columbia, Hartigan now ranks as the top scorer in the WCHA overall this season with 12 goals, 14 assists and 26 points in 12 games for an average of 2.17 points per game.

In a 5-3 victory over the Seawolves last Friday (Nov. 16) night at Sullivan Arena, Hartigan scored two goals and assisted on the game-winner. On Saturday (Nov. 17) evening, he came back to score his third shorthanded goal of the season and added an assist as the Huskies posted a 4-2 win over UAA and earned the series sweep.

St. Cloud State, now 11-1-0 overall, leads the WCHA race with a 9-1-0 conference mark and 18 points. The Huskies are idle over the Thanksgiving weekend before returning to action in a home-and-home set against league-rival Minnesota on Nov. 30-Dec. 1.

WCHA Defensive Player of the Week
Scott Kabotoff, G, Wisconsin

University of Wisconsin junior goaltender Scott Kabotoff, who stopped 65 of 66 shots on goal for a .985 saves percentage and recorded his first collegiate shutout in a two-game series with Michigan Tech last weekend, has been honored as the WCHA Defensive Player of the Week for Nov. 19-25. It is the second straight time Kabotoff has earned the weekly honor.

Over his past four (consecutive) WCHA starts, Kabotoff has stopped 147 of 150 shots on goal for a .980 saves percentage, blanked his opponents in nine of 12 periods, and has allowed just two even-strength goals. A 6-0, 175-pound native of Sherwood Park, Alberta, Kabotoff is the leading netminder in WCHA play with a 1.00 goals-against average and .973 saves percentage.

Last Friday (Nov. 16), he stopped 32 of 33 shots in a 1-0 loss to Michigan Tech before coming back with a 33-save, 5-0, shutout over the Huskies on Saturday (Nov. 17). He also held MTU scoreless on all 13 of their weekend power-play chances.

Wisconsin (6-4-0 overall) next plays in the College Hockey Showcase with non-conference games at Michigan State on Nov. 23 and Michigan on Nov. 24.

WCHA Rookie of the Week
Curtis McElhinney, G, Colorado College

Curtis McElhinney, a freshman goaltender at Colorado College, has been named the WCHA Rookie of the Week for Nov. 19-25 as a result of his strong efforts in a 6-1 victory over 15th-ranked Clarkson University last Friday (Nov. 16) night.

A 6-2, 185-pounder from Calgary, Alberta, McElhinney stopped stopped 17 of 18 shots on goal for a .944 saves percentage in the victory over the ECAC-leading Golden Knights - including a breakaway attempt late in the second period as the Tigers held a one-goal advantage. He also helped blank Clarkson on all three power-play chances.

On the 2001-02 season, McElhinney now sports a 2-0-0 record and a 1.00 goals-against average.

Colorado College, who completed the weekend series with a 3-0 triumph over Clarkson last Saturday (Nov. 17) evening, is now 5-5-0 overall and sporting a three-game winning streak. The Tigers, who were an NCAA tournament team a year ago, were the pre-season choice of WCHA head coaches to win the league's regular season title in 2001-02.
