MADISON, Wisc. - A pair of goals from league scoring leader and C Jeff Panzer and the game-winner from rookie Quinn Fylling enabled second-ranked North Dakota to skate past host Alaska Anchorage, 4-2, last night (Dec. 1) and leapfrog Minnesota into first place in the WCHA race heading into tonight's games. The win also extended the defending NCAA champion Sioux's unbeaten streak to 10 games (9-0-1) and improved their overall record to 11-2-4 (.765).

Elsewhere around the WCHA on Friday evening, defending MacNaughton Cup-champion Wisconsin got back in the win column with a 5-4 verdict at Minnesota-Duluth, St. Cloud State edged host Michigan Tech, 4-3, in overtime, Denver pushed its unbeaten streak to four games (3-0-1) with a 4-0 shutout over league-leading Minnesota in the Mile High City, and Colorado College downed visiting Air Force Academy, 4-1, in non-conference play. Additional highlights last night included:
* in Duluth, the Badgers got a pair of goals from C Matt Murray and a goal and three assists from RW Dany Heatley while C Nate Anderson scored twice for the Bulldogs...Graham Melanson earned his 68th career win in goal to move into a second place tie in the UW record book for most victories.
* in Houghton, F Jon Cullen scored twice, including the game-winner at 3:38 of overtime, as SCSU improved to 9-3-1 overall...W Paul Cabana had two goals for the Huskies.
* in Denver, C Chris Paradise tallied twice, G Wade Dubielewicz earned his second career shutout, and the Pioneers blanked UM's league-leading power-play on all nine man-advantage opportunities.
* and in Colorado Springs, the host Tigers had a goal and assist from both Joe Cullen and Alex Kim as they upped their overall record to 9-3-1.
