MADISON, Wisc. - St. Cloud State University (12-1-1) has moved into the nation's top slot in this week's two Div. I men's college hockey polls following a 3-2 win and 2-2 tie against last week's No. 1 club, the University of Minnesota. Coach Craig Dahl's Huskies, also currently leading the race for the WCHA's MacNaughton Cup, are tops in both the USCHO.com and USA Today/American Hockey Magazine polls for Dec. 3.

The Golden Gophers (11-1-3) are No. 2 in the USCHO.com poll and tied for second in the USA Today/American Hockey Magazine ranking with the University of Denver (11-1-0). The Pioneers, who moved their conference record to a perfect 8-0-0 last weekend with an 8-2 and 3-1 sweep at Minnesota- Duluth, are third in the USCHO.com poll. SCSU, UM and DU own a combined 34-3-4 mark this season. Also continuing to climb in the polls is Colorado College. The Tigers (8-5-1), ranked 10th in the USA Today/American Hockey Magazine poll and 12th in the USCHO.com poll, stretched their unbeaten streak to seven (6-0-1) games last weekend with a 2-2 tie and 3-1 win at Michigan Tech. All four of the WCHA's top-ranked teams will be in head-to-head action this coming weekend (Dec. 7-8) when St. Cloud State travels to Colorado College and Denver hosts Minnesota. Two other WCHA teams - defending league champion North Dakota and Minnesota State-Mankato - also received votes in the Dec. 3 polls.

Celebrating it's 50th anniversary season in 2001-02 and home to 31 national championship teams since 1951, WCHA teams sport a combined 28-12-2 record in non-conference games so far this season.
