Fontaine's Four-goal Outburst Lifts Minnesota Duluth
What a difference one night can make. In the series opener against Michigan Tech last Friday night the University of Minnesota Duluth hockey team threw a free-wheeling attack but found virtually nothing would go into the net, and Tech snatched victory out from under UMD's nose. One night later, UMD junior Justin Fontaine had one of those magical nights that even the most gifted goal-scorers can only imagine and the Bulldogs not only returned but exceeded their previous high-flying form.

Denver Pioneers Rested, Ready for Fighting Sioux Series
The marquee match-up of the young WCHA season finds North Dakota invading Magness Arena in Denver to take on the DU Pioneers this weekend. Denver was the consensus pick to win the WCHA, and defending MacNaughton Cup champion North Dakota was a strong second choice, so this series could go a long way toward determining the early-season edge.

The Western Collegiate Hockey Association today announced it's players of the week for the period Nov. 17-23, 2009. They are forward Justin Fontaine of the University of Minnesota Duluth, St. Cloud State goaltender Dan Dunn on defense, and Colorado College goaltender Joe Howe as rookie.
