BEMIDJI, Minn. - With the score knotted 3-3 at the 11:29 mark of the third period, Amber Fryklund collected her third goal of the game to put the Beavers in front to stay as they beat the University of Findlay tonight 4-3 at the John Glas Fieldhouse.

Bemidji State came out of the blocks firing on all cylinders. Fryklund put BSU up 1-0 just 7:33 into the game when she was fed by Caesare Stimson and Mandy Bambrough and beat the Findlay goaltender for the goal. Alicia Kinsman would score just over four minutes later (11:39) with assists from Betsy Hegland and Kerri McEwen putting the Beavers up by two, 2-0. The goal put an end to the longest scoring drought to the seniorıs career at eight, games including five games out due to a dislocation in her back.

The University of Findlay would score a goal of their own before the first period horn would sound. Rose Macgillivary took a pass from Nicole Richardson and put it just passed the Beaverıs Bre Dedrickson for the Oilerıs first score.

It would take Findlay only 57 seconds to tie the game early in the second. Meghan Schlaff stole a pass from the BSU defensive unit and took it in for the unassisted score.

Fryklund would put the Beavers back on top, 3-2 at the 6:05 mark of the second period. Lisa Peters was credited with her ninth assist of the season as she wound up from the top of the right face-off circle and sent a slap shot in the vicinity of the Findlay goal. Fryklund redirected the shot just past the Findlay goaltender for her 10th goal of the season.

The Oilers would come back to tie the game, 3-3 less the four minutes later (10:02) when Melissa Oliver notched her sixth goal of the season as Nicole Richardson added her second assist of the game.

But Fryklund would put the Beavers on top to stay at the 11:29 mark of the third frame. ³Mandy [Bambrough] took a nice shot and I was just in the right place at the right time on the tap in,² commented Fryklund. Bambrough and Peters each collected their second assists of the game, giving Bambrough her first multi-point game as Beaver.

With her third goal of the game and the eleventh goal of the season, was Fryklundıs third-career hat trick. The last one came Feb. 10, 2001 versus Wayne State. It was the ninth hat trick recorded by a Bemidji State player in the short history of the program. The Hibbing, Minn. native leads the team with 27 points this season on 11 goals and 16 assists. She is BSUıs all-time leading scorer with 112 career points.

After the game BSU head coach Bruce Olson was happy the teamıs performance. ³It was a real battle and Findlay played well and didnıt quit. They fought us until the end.² Fryklund was excited about the way the team played, ³right now we are passing a lot better, making some improvements in a lot of areas. We are peaking at the right time. Destiny [to make the play-offs] is in our hands so we just have to keep playing.²

The same two teams will meet again tomorrow at the John Glas Fieldhouse. The puck is set to drop at 4:05 p.m.
