MADISON, Wis. - Two teams are in and another can clinch a spot this weekend as the 2003 WCHA Women's Final Five, held March 6-8 at Ralph Engelstad Arena in Grand Forks, N.D., nears.

While both teams fight it out for the regular-season title, league-leader Minnesota-Duluth and Minnesota have both clinched WCHA Women's Final Five appearances as the season winds down.

Wisconsin can clinch a spot outright this weekend if it takes three of four points from guest Bemidji State. The Badgers can also clinch a spot with two points and a St. Cloud State loss or tie. Bemidji State can virtually assure itself of a spot in the postseason tourney with a sweep over the Badgers.

Ohio State visits Minnesota this weekend for a pair of games in hopes of putting itself in better position for a Final Five invitation. OSU currently holds a four-point edge over St. Cloud State and a five-point cushion over Minnesota State for the fifth and final position.

SCSU plays host to first-place Minnesota-Duluth as it looks to climb into contention.

Minnesota State welcomes non-Conference foe Findlay to Mankato, Minn. The Mavericks return to League action next weekend at Ohio State, which may be the most important series the rest of the year in determining the field for the playoffs.
