Madison, Wis. -- Seven current or former WCHA players have been named to the 2004 United State Women's National team announced today by USA Hockey. The 20-player team will compete at the nine-team 2004 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Women's World Championship, March 30 to April 6 in Halifax and Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

Current WCHA players traveling to the World Championship include defensemen Julianne Vasichek from Minnesota Duluth and Molly Engstrom of Wisconsin and forwards Kelly Stephens, Krissy Wendell and Natalie Darwitz from Minnesota and Minnesota Duluth's Jenny Potter. Former Wisconsin standout and 2003 U.S. Women's Select Team member, Kerry Weiland, was also named to the roster.

Potter was a member of the 1998 Olympic Gold Medal team and teamed with Darwitz and Wendell on the 2002 Olympic Silver Medal squad.
