The eighth-annual Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award will be presented at a dinner at the Sheraton Harborside Portsmouth in Portsmouth, N.H., on March 26, 2005, in conjunction with the NCAA Women's Frozen Four.

The Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award, first presented in 1998, is in its eighth year. The three finalists, as well as the recipient of the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award, are chosen by a 13-member selection committee comprised of women's Division I hockey coaches, members of the media and a representative from USA Hockey, the National Governing Body for the sport of hockey in the United States. Candidates for the award must compete for a Division I ice hockey team at an NCAA-member institution. Selection criteria include outstanding individual and team skills, sportsmanship, performance in the clutch, personal character, competitiveness and a love of hockey. Consideration is also given to academic achievement and civic involvement.
