MADISON, Wis. - In what may be the most important week of the 2002-03 Western Collegiate Hockey Association women's league season, all seven teams compete with conference title, playoff berths on the line.

The marquee matchup has second-place Minnesota visiting League-leader Minnesota-Duluth on Friday and Saturday. The Bulldogs, six points up on the Gophers, can win their first regular-season title since 1999-00 with a sweep. Three points will clinch at least a share of the Conference title. Should Minnesota sweep, the Gophers would pull within two points of UMD, with two less games played than the Bulldogs.

In other action, Minnesota State visits Ohio State with eyes on a WCHA Women's Final Five slot. The Mavericks sit five points behind the Buckeyes with six games remaining for both schools. A sweep by OSU would virtually assure itself a spot in the playoffs, while a Maverick sweep would pull MSU within a point of the final spot.

Wisconsin may have a voice in which teams earn the final two berths as the Badgers face St. Cloud State and Ohio State in the next two weeks, respectively. Three points this week by the Badgers assures them of at least third place.

Bemidji State will keep an eye on WCHA play while it plays host to Findlay for a home series.
