COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. ­ Harvard University claims the No. 1 spot in this week's USA Today/American Hockey Magazine Women's College Hockey Poll, ranking No. 1 for the first time since March 18, 2003. The Crimson swept ECAC opponent No. 3 St. Lawrence University. Julie Chu notched an assist on each goal in Harvard's Friday night 3-2 overtime victory, while teammate Nicole Corriero registered a hat trick in Saturday's, 5-1, defeat of the Saints. The Crimson garnered 16 of 19 first-place votes following the wins.

The University of Minnesota slipped to No. 2 after registering a tie and a win against Ohio State University. The Golden Gophers skated to a 1-1 tie with the Buckeyes, before blanking Ohio, 6-0, on Saturday. This weekend Minnesota faces off against intrastate rival No. 6 University of Minnesota-Duluth. Duluth swept WCHA opponent St. Cloud State University by scores of 7-1 and 6-4, Friday and Saturday, respectively.

Two teams are tied for the No. 4 spot this week. Dartmouth College registered a win and a loss this weekend, defeating Yale University, 4-1, on Friday and falling to No. 7 Princeton University, 5-2, on Saturday. The University of Wisconsin moved up one place to share No. 4 this week, after sweeping Niagara University. The Badgers tallied 12 goals this weekend, while allowing only one. Wisconsin blanked Niagara, 4-0, on Friday and the Purple Eagles dropped an 8-1 decision on Saturday.

The seventh annual USA Today/American Hockey Magazine Women's College Hockey Poll is conducted each week in conjunction with the American Hockey Coaches Association. The poll includes input from women's college ice hockey coaches and journalists, as well as composite votes from officers of the American Hockey Coaches Association and American Hockey Magazine, the official publication of USA Hockey.
