OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jennifer Desson, F, Ohio State

Jennifer Desson helped Ohio State clinch fourth place and the fourth seed for the 2003 WCHA Women's Final Five with a hat trick and an assist in OSU's win and tie with Bemidji State. The output earned Desson this week's Western Collegiate Hockey Association's Offensive Player of the Week award.

The Niagara Falls, Ontario native recorded her first career hat trick, including her first career short-handed goal, a power-play tally and an even-strength goal, to lead the Buckeyes to a 6-2 Saturday home victory that clinched fourth place. She took eight shots in the contest.

The sophomore also registered one assist and six shots in OSU's series opening deadlock with BSU.

Desson ranks fourth on Ohio State with 11 goals, 13 assists and 24 points for the season.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jody Horak, G, Minnesota

Jody Horak stopped 47 of 49 shots to help Minnesota earn a split at Wisconsin. Horak dropped a 2-1 decision before blanking the Badgers, 2-0. For the effort, she is this week's Western Collegiate Hockey Association's Defensive Player of the Week.

The Blaine, Minn., native made 19 saves in the Gophers' 2-1 loss to open the series.

The sophomore then improved her season record to 22-4-0 with her fifth shutout of the season with 28 saves in her team's 2-0 victory for the series split.

Over the weekend, Horak's 47 saves gave her a .959 save percentage and helped her to a 1.00 goals-against average.

This season, Horak leads the WCHA with a 1.65 goals-against average and .932 save percentage, while sporting a 22-4-0 record.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK Jana Harrigan, F, Ohio State

Jana Harrigan collected a goal and an assist to help Ohio State earn three of four points from Bemidji State to earn the Western Collegiate Hockey Association's Rookie of the Week.

The Burlington, Ontario native helped set up the Buckeyes' first goal in the team's 3-3 tie last Friday. She also fired six shots in the contest.

The frosh then scored OSU's first goal of the game in Saturday's 6-2 victory. She finished with three shots and plus-1 rating.

For the season, Harrigan's 26 points and 11 goals both rank second among Ohio State players.
