No. 1 Wisconsin posted 9-0 win over No. 4 St. Cloud State in the first semifinal game at the 2006 WCHA Women's Playoff Championship Tournament. Cyndy Kenyon scored four goals while 2006 WCHA Player of the Year, Sara Bauer, had a goal and four assists to lead the Badgers. The game was scoreless until 13:33 of the first period as Kenyon scored her first of four goals on the day. Jessie Vetter made 21 saves in the shutout to earn the win. Wisconsin betters their record to 32-4-1 while St. Cloud State ends their season 18-18-1.

In the second semifinal game, No. 3 Minnesota Duluth's Noemie Marin gave the Bulldogs an early lead with a goal at 2:35 of the first. Minnesota's Andrea Nichols tied the game with a power play goal at 7:35 of the first period. After a scoreless second period, Minnesota's Jenelle Philipczyk converted on a pass from Gigi Marvin, scoring the game winner at 16:05 of the third. Minnesota's Kim Hanlon had 20 saves in the win while Minnesota Duluth's Riitta Schaublin had 37. Minnesota moves to 27-9-1 and Minnesota Duluth falls to 22-8-3.
