MINNEAPOLIS - No. 1 Wisconsin (33-4-1), the WCHA regular-season champion, earned its first-ever WCHA tournament title Sunday at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis with a 4-1 win over No. 2 Minnesota (27-10-1). The Badgers become the only team besides Minnesota and Minnesota Duluth to win the tournament crown.

In the first period, Wisconsin's Cyndy Kenyon scored on the Badgers' first power play at 5:14. Sara Bauer and Meaghan Mikkelson added the assists.

Minnesota got on the board at 12:15 of the first as Allie Sanchez got the puck past Wisconsin goaltender Megan Horras.

Wisconsin's Bobbi-Jo Slusar put the Badgers back on top at 15:25 to send give them the lead heading into the first intermission.

In the second period, Emily Morris scored on the rebound putting Wisconsin up by two goals. Meghan Mikkelson added an insurance goal as the Badgers went on to win 4-1. Goaltender Megan Horras made 28 saves in earning the victory.

Sara Bauer was named tournament MVP as she tallied eight points on the weekend. Wisconsin's Cyndy Kenyon, Megan Horras, Bobbi Jo Slusar and Emily Morris were named to the all-tournament team along with Minnesota's Allie Sanchez and Gigi Marvin. Minnesota's Kim Hanlon started the game and made five saves but retired with an injury after the first period, but was assessed the loss. Brittony Chartier finished the game for Minnesota and made 10 saves.
