No. 3 Minnesota Duluth defeated No. 2 Wisconsin 3-1 in the first semifinal game Saturday to earn a spot in the 2004 WCHA Final Five Championship game.

Wisconsin got on the scoreboard early as Molly Engstrom converted on the power play just 1:37 into the opening stanza. Carla MacLeod and Meghan Hunter added the assists. The Bulldogs answered with a goal from Larissa Luther at 3:13 of the first. Nora Tallus and Julianne Vasichek were credited with the assists.

Minnesota Duluth took a 2-1 lead at 4:37 of the second as Jenny Potter took the rebound off of Caroline Ouellette's initial shot. Noemie Marin had the second assist. Marin then added an insurance goal at 15:46 of the second period. Potter and Ouellette added assists.

The Bulldogs outshot the Badgers 38-21 on the day, including limiting Wisconsin to just two shots on goal in the second period.

Minnesota Duluth will face the winner of today's second final game between No. 1 Minnesota and No. 4 Ohio State at 4:05 p.m. on Sunday. Wisconsin will take on the loser of the second semifinal at 1:05 p.m. in the third place game.
