Nine players competing for an NCAA Division I Women's Ice Hockey Championship in Duluth, MN, this weekend have been honored as JOFA ALL-AMERICANS for 2002-03. Noteworthy among the selections is the fourth consecutive First Team selection of Harvard University forward Jennifer Botterill. She is the first women's ice hockey player so honored.
Six other players have earned All-American status in the past, including Harvard defenseman Angela Ruggiero, a First Team choice for the third time, and Minnesota-Duluth forward Maria Rooth, a Second Team choice this year after two First Team selections.
The twelve players recognized include five seniors, four juniors, and three freshmen. Eight players come from the United States, three from Canada,and one (Rooth) from Sweden.
The JOFA ALL-AMERICAN ICE HOCKEY TEAMS are sponsored by JOFA, an international leader in hockey equipment, and chosen by members of the AMERICAN HOCKEY COACHES ASSOCIATION.
