Madison, Wis. -- The Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) placed seven student-athletes on the 2004 All-America First and Second Teams, as chosen by the American Hockey Coaches Association. The WCHA leads the way among this year's selection with seven honorees.
Minnesota forward Krissy Wendell, along with Minnesota Duluth forwards, Jenny Potter and Caroline Ouellette, were named to the first team. Potter earned first-team honors for the third time in her career, also earning All-American honors in 2000 and 2003. Wendell was a second team selection last season while Ouellette garnered All-American honors for the first time in her career.
Named to the second team were Minnesota forward Natalie Darwitz, Minnesota Duluth defenseman Julianne Vasichek, Minnesota State goaltender Shari Vogt and Wisconsin defenseman Carla MacLeod. Darwitz was named to the first-team in 2003 while MacLeod, Vasichek and Vogt earned honors for the first time.
Minnesota Duluth led all schools with three selections while Minnesota tied with Harvard with two.
